Should Obama make president his affect will go far beyond that of the Arab world.
It will affect all of Africa and the two hunderd million living around the world who originated in Africa generations ago. That in turn will impact directly on the societies they are integrated into.
I believe that his affect will be a healing one in general. Not only will it help heal racial scars, it will also take away much of Osama's power to recruit suicide bombers. It will also help to change world opinion about what America really stands for. A more respectful world image will help Americans feel better about themselves and heal much of the internal divisions the war in Iraq has generated.
For these reasons and more one can only urge voters, especially men and women who might be equivocating about voting for him or Hillary Clinton, to put their mark under Obama's name. Though I will be glad if she makes President, her global effect will not be anywhere near as profound.
